Hey guys!
First welcome to Marjon! We’ve got a wicked year planned for everyone, and I can’t wait for you to arrive and for others to come back so we can start enjoying the year.
I’m Joe Benson; YOUR Deputy President for what I hope will be the best year of your life, with a little help from us here at the Student Union.
I’ve been told that I have to write a little about myself, but I don’t want to get you too excited too soon....Just Kidding. Marjon has been my home for the last three years, and in your next three years you will come to love this place as much as me. We’ll teach you not to take life to seriously and enjoy everything here as much as you possibly can because as upsetting as it is three years will fly by.
So knowing this don’t think twice about coming and speaking to myself or Heathy, after all, apart from touching each other, we are here to help. Although I have been told that one of my most appealing qualities is my exceptional good looks...or rather my big head, I hope that you will come to see me as a mate, because that’s what I am, or at least hope to be.
On to more important matters; we’ve been working hard this summer to make sure we know everything and everyone we should so that we’re always ready and able to improve things for you guys. The fact that, even though I’ve been here for three years, I can’t find my way around campus doesn’t help. Don’t worry that’s not me being an idiot; it’s the new and improved campus facilities that will be ready and waiting for when you arrive.
Our mental summer doesn’t stop there, we’ve also been hard at work getting things ready for Fresher’s Fortnight (Don’t forget to buy your fresher’s band before we sell out). I am particularly looking forward to an old Marjon favourite; Hypnotic night. Who can resist a woman who can make you do what she wants all whilst wearing extremely tight leather.
There are so many things to look forward to this year I don’t know where to begin. What I can say is that we’ll make sure that you’re never short of something to do. With events in the Sub being organised on a regular basis where else would you want to be?
I know I don’t want to be anywhere else so make sure you come and say Hi. After all we are family, even if I am the stingy relative that never buys you a present.
